CUSTOM MADE LP & HP SCUBA HOSES

INFORMATION - MAINTENANCE

UR-FLEX hoses are made according the highest quality standards but as with all scuba hoses they don't last forever and it is imperative for your safety that you inspect your scuba hoses on a regular basis, best before every dive, and change them if needed or in doubt.

Regular checks maintenance will keep your UR-FLEX hose in good condition and prolongs the hose's lifespan.

All our hoses are manually and proudle manufactured in the EU to assure the highest quality and customer satisfaction. Every single hose is manufactured according the EN250 standards.

Inspection before diving:

- check if your hose shows major signs of wear and tear, especially cuts and abrasion marks

- also check the area close to the fittings

- when in doubt, change the hose

- when cuts are abrasion marks show the inner layer of the hose, they should definitely be changed

- leaking hoses should definitely be changed

- hoses showing damage on the threading and/or BCD quick release should definitely be changed

- always inspect the O-rings on the hose fittings when refitting or swapping hoses. When in doubt change the O-rings

- when diving in more demanding environments like cave- and wreck penetration, checks should be carried out more frequent and more rigorous because of higher risk of abrasion, cutting and rubbing against sharp edges

- hoses used for gasmixtures with high oxygen content will require more frequent checks.

- hoses should have a slight flexible feel when squeezed and should return to their initial form and shape when released. If not they should be replaced.

Maintenance:

- never bend the hose too much. Pay attention when storing your hoses

- rinse your hose after every dive and especially after diving in salt water

- build-up of limescale or contimination on the fittings can be removed by gentle brushing with a soft brush (plastic or brass). Rinse throughly with fresh water after brushing

- more stubborn scale build-up can be removed using a very mild descaler (10% household acetic acid solution in fresh water). Solution temperature should not exceed 50°C/122°F and exposure time should be less than 30 min. Rinse throughly with fresh water after descaling

- don't cut are make any changes to your hose

- don't cut and reconnect your hose using any type of fitting

- protect your hose from excessive pulling forces

- protect your hose from excessive- and prolonged exposure to sunlight. UV in sunlight is responsable for rapid detoriation of all rubber- and nylon based hoses.

- protect your hose from excessive exposure to temperatures above 50°C/122°F. Excessive exposure to sunlight might cause temperature raises on and in your hose above 50°C/122°F.

- hoses used for gasmixtures with high oxygen content will detoriate faster and will require more frequent checks and more frequent hose replacement.

Fitting your hose:

- fitting, changing and swapping hoses is best done by an experienced and competent person, ideally your local dive shop or service center

- do not overtighten the fittings as this can damage the threading and/or O-rings. Recommended torque is 5-8 Nm. Use the appropriate tools

- never bend the hose too much. Pay attention to the hose routing on your dive set

- never expose your hose to open flame, direct heat or excessive sun light

- protect your hose and especially the fittings against impact and abbrasive forces.

- always use the right hose for the right application. If in doubt contact your local dive shop or service center
